Objectives

• Promote European traditional sports and games: in France and Spain fencing is considered a traditional sport as it has a long history and it is practiced at a large scale by the population.
• Encourage equal opportunities in sport
• Support the mobility of volunteers, coaches, managers and staff of non-profit sport organisations

The specific objectives of our project are:

1. To develop the skills and competences of the members of the consortium and about 90 local coaches/ sport teachers that will be trained in the methods of teaching fencing to children during the entire period of the project.
2. To promote fencing at population level and especially in schools for the improvement of the recruitment process of children. (through local synergies between fencing clubs and schools) We expect that the promotion of the benefits of practicing this sport by young children at school level will increase the number of fencing practitioners, in the partner countries during the entire period of the project. The promotion and positioning of fencing at all levels will result in significant increased involvement and interest from parents, audiences, players and investors.
3. To produce educational materials for the training of coaches in the domain of fencing. (development of a training methodology for coaches training especially children)

Who we address

Direct beneficiaries

• all the partners in the project (management teams, local coordinators and coaches) that will enjoy the benefits of the transnational meetings, local events and visibility of this European project
• fencing coaches;
• sports teachers that have the specialization of fencing coach; sports teachers with specialization of coach fencing, but without being practitioners;
• former practitioners of sword at national level;
• physical education and sports teachers;
• NGOs/fencing sport clubs /fencing federations/public institutions/training centers in the domain of fencing, that are interested in the training of coaches;
• Children that are now involved in fencing classes, but also new ones that will be addressed through the local events in each country (partnerships between fencing clubs and schools).

Indirect beneficiaries:

• Parents that have still prejudices and oppose to the practice of fencing, considering it an unsafe sport for children;
• Sport teachers from schools that will meet with fencing coaches and that maybe will want to specialize as fencing coaches in the future;
• The Ministries of Youth and Sport from the participant countries;
• The local and international fencing federations;
• The sport teachers from general schools in the partner countries;
• The Universities of Physical Education and Sports from the participant countries and beyond;
• Local councils, town halls that have under their administration sport halls, gyms - which will also have to consider the particularities of fencing at logistics level.
